Construction of our Beach Road project in Collaroy on Sydney’s northern beaches is well advanced. The site on the exposed and spectacular beach front on Sydney’s Northern Beaches features rammed earth walls and a protected courtyard that offers a sanctuary from the at times very harsh coastal environment. The house is single story and organized around a strong spine or circulation route. Once you have entered the house you are immediately aware of the presence of the ocean to the east.
The design’s low profile and tough outer shell of rammed earth give it a visual and physical strength that is well suited to this environment. Internally the house features large open plan living spaces connected to both the views and the private inner world of the courtyard. It also features underground car parking, a gym and sauna. The owner of this property is a builder and we are thus not involved in the final construction and administration of the project. However we remain confident that the result will do justice to the architectural concept and detail design undertaken by the office.
As progress continues on this project we have just been commissioned for another new residence on Beach Road in Collaroy. Two houses in this iconic location is an exciting prospect for the office.
