This architectural beach house sits high above the ocean on the sandstone escarpment above Killcare Beach on the NSW central coast. Built on a very steep site, this beach house steps down the escarpment taking full advantage of the wonderful views to the north-east. The living areas open to the more protected north western aspect, creating shelter from the harsh, windy coastal conditions on this site whilst also opening the building to address the beautiful bush aspects of the site.

This timber beach-house was designed to nestle into the hillside which backs onto the stunning Bouddi National Park. From a distance it is quite difficult to see the building as it compliments the landscape rather than fights it.

This is one of Design King Company’s first projects and was an incredible opportunity to expand and challenge the company’s design thinking, and was a great success.

It was designed as an architectural beach house for holiday residence for a large family with a separate apartment for extended family or friends. With lots of outdoor recreational spaces, it has successfully been used for over 15 years as a wonderful family holiday home.
